This incident unfolded in the neighborhood of Keilor East, specifically on Belle Vista, where loud explosions echoed from the home as police carried out controlled detonations of the identified devices. Residents reported hearing a series of popping sounds, the first occurring at 6:00 AM, followed by another at 6:30 AM, and a third explosion later as the situation developed.
According to a spokesperson for Victoria Police, the bomb response unit was called to action after officers uncovered these suspicious items around 11:30 AM the previous day. In light of the findings, authorities established a crime scene that remains secured as they continue their investigation.
Local residents were taken aback, with some estimating that around 20 police vehicles converged on their normally quiet street on Saturday morning. One neighbor expressed their shock, stating, "We thought someone had been murdered."
