Judd Trump vs Ding Junhui | Masters Snooker 2026 | Quarter-Finals (2026)

In an electrifying display at Alexandra Palace, Judd Trump, the current world number one in snooker, has emphatically advanced to the quarter-finals of the Masters tournament after delivering a commanding 6-2 victory over Ding Junhui. This win marks Trump's fifth consecutive triumph against the two-time Masters champion, who previously claimed the title back in 2011.

Trump's performance was nothing short of exceptional, showcasing his skills with impressive breaks of 116 and 69 as he surged ahead to a 3-0 lead. However, Ding, representing China, made a commendable effort to claw back into the match, producing notable breaks of 98 and 53 that briefly narrowed the gap to just one frame.

Despite Ding’s resurgence, Trump quickly reasserted his dominance with a break of 88, followed by a stunning 117, ultimately sealing his victory with a final break of 109. After the match, Trump shared his thoughts with BBC Sport, expressing his confidence: "I feel confident and have got to a few finals recently and it has taken some good players to stop me. I am full of confidence and hopefully I can go one better this tournament. I have had a month off tournaments but still been putting the work in."

Looking ahead, Trump is set to face Northern Ireland's Mark Allen in the quarter-finals, scheduled for Thursday at 19:00 GMT. Notably, every match played thus far in this year's Masters has concluded with the same scoreline of 6-2, illustrating the closely matched competition among players. Interestingly, Trump had previously defeated Ding with this identical score at the UK Championship in December.

Reflecting on the match, Trump remarked, "I convinced myself my game would not be 6-2 and at 3-0 up I thought, 'at least I can't lose 6-2.' It's incredible really because all the players are so closely matched and to have every single game go that way is so surprising."

On the other hand, Ding acknowledged his own shortcomings during the match, admitting that he made several poor safety shots which allowed Trump to capitalize easily. He stated, "He was playing good and I wasn't at a good enough level to play against him. His standard is very high. He didn't miss much and it is very difficult to play him."

In another exciting development, Neil Robertson is set to compete against Chris Wakelin in the last remaining tie of the last-16 round on Wednesday evening at 19:00 GMT. Wakelin stepped in as a late replacement following the withdrawal of eight-time champion Ronnie O'Sullivan, adding an unexpected twist to the tournament.
