A Louisiana bank plans to broaden its presence in Baton Rouge with a new branch.
Synergy Bank, headquartered in Houma, intends to build a second Baton Rouge location. The proposed facility would be a roughly 9,200-square-foot branch featuring a drive-thru, situated on a 1.63-acre parcel in the Towne Center Business Park, adjacent to Cadence Bank.
The Planning Commission is set to review the final development plan at its January meeting. The application was filed by Rusty Bourg, Synergy Bank’s chief operating officer. The site is owned by Summa Professional Office Park LLC. According to the development plan, the building would measure 9,236 square feet and rest on about 1.07 acres, leaving roughly half an acre of open space.
Synergy Bank was established in 1998 by local business leaders in the Houma-Terrebonne area. The bank penetrated the Baton Rouge market in 2023 through the acquisition of People’s Bank and its branches in Baton Rouge, New Roads, Central, and Livonia. Its Baton Rouge branch is located on Mourning Dove Drive near Jefferson Highway.
Beyond Baton Rouge, the bank operates six branches in the Houma–Thibodaux region and reported assets around $1.2 billion and deposits of about $1 billion as of September 30, according to the FDIC.
